As I wait patiently for news from my P6 2018 students on their PSLE results, I thought I should blog about what we have been doing in class this month to prepare for the PSLE 2019.
We have one more week till the end of our term. After which we will have 2-day intensive lessons on Paper1 & Oral plus Paper 2. The rest of the time will be used to rest and recuperate.
This month we have worked on 2 compositions – Being Afraid and An Argument as well as 2 Formal Situational Writing pieces. We have also started work on the 2018 Top school papers.
To facilitate the ever increasing challenging vocabulary words that appear in the examination papers, I have given my students a 10-page list of Phrasal Verbs for them to learn slowly. They are then asked to make sentences with these phrasal verbs. I am hoping to see an improvement when they come across phrasal verbs during paper 2 exercises. I will certainly test them during our Paper 2 Intensives/workshops in December!
This week, I have also handed out the the CA1 Vocabulary list to them. They will be tested from the list of words over Term 2 which will begin in January for us. I have omitted the Editing words section as they already have their list of Phrasal verbs and I do not want to overload them.
